Pyramids’ surveyor uses ultrasonic testing equipment to measure the thickness of the deck plates non-destructively, then record measurements and any relevant observations about the deck’s condition.
Hatch cover surveys are conducted using three common methods: ultra-sonic tests , hose tests and light test. The examination aims to identify signs of wear and tear, corrosion, deformation or damages that may affect the hatch covers’ ability to provide a proper seal. Ensuring no water leakage enters the cargo holds is crucial during these inspections to avoid seawater leakage into cargo holds during voyage.
